Why should I opt for hypoallergenic flooring?

by

Floors that do not produce any allergic reactions are known as hypoallergenic. Non-allergenic materials such as stone, or marble are used; and recycled or organic materials are not unheard of, either. The thought behind them is obvious: floors that do not produce allergic reactions in people are more conducive to comfortable homes. What follows is a quick look at the reasons you might have for switching to hypoallergenic flooring, and what the benefits of it are.

Carpets are probable the worst option for flooring, if it is allergens you are concerned with. They cannot be easily, and thoroughly be cleaned, so at any moment they could be host to thousands of microscopic allergens. Dust, for example, and therefore dust mites, can remain hidden within carpets, and cannot be removed simply by vacuuming. It can be a costly, and time consuming business, removing dust and dust mites from carpets.

Among the symptoms caused by allergies, to things like dust mites, is cold-like symptoms, such as shortness of breath, sneezing, watering eyes and blocked nose. It does not make much of a comfortable home, therefore, to have flooring that risks producing this kind of reaction in you. So how can you avoid such affects?

One option might be laminate flooring, which seems to avoid all the dust mite harbouring dangers of carpets; but even with laminate, allergies can happen. The glue, and chemicals, used in the production, and the installation, of laminate flooring, can often produce similar allergic reactions in residents. The glue used to lay carpets can, similarly, cause reactions.

It looks like the only option, then, is to use hypoallergenic flooring. These floors are made of materials such as stone, or marble. The advantages of this option are not just the fact that there is no risk of allergic reactions, but also because they are incredibly simple to maintain, and to keep spotlessly clean. All that is needed is regular dusting, or mopping.

Laminate flooring is much cheaper on the internet as it often comes straight from the manufacturer.
