Why Allergy Sufferers Love Silk Flowers

Do you suffer from allergies and are afraid you won’t be able to enjoy beautiful flowers at your own wedding? There is no reason to worry about this. There are so many high quality and beautiful silk flowers that can be used and no one will know they aren’t real – at least from a few feet away. Some silk flowers are so realistic that a person would have to touch them to know they weren’t the real thing. If you are tired of feeling like you’ll be unable to enjoy your wedding day because of your allergies, you can stop! It’s possible to enjoy the beauty of flowers without the physical downsides if you choose quality silk flowers.
Improved technology means that there are brands of silk flowers available that are extremely detailed and lifelike. You would really be hard pressed to tell them apart from real flowers. It’s really not surprising that they have gotten so popular. People with allergies to real flowers will enjoy them because they are non allergenic, but that’s not the only benefit. Silk flowers will never wilt, crush under careless handling, or turn brown. There are so many varieties available that you can come up with endless possibilities for your wedding arrangements. Think about it, the flowers you adore will always be in season.
To create a basic silk flower arrangement for your wedding reception tables, consider using opaque vases. That way, you’ll be able to set a piece of floral foam securely in the bottom. If you need to, you can use a glue gun to keep it from moving. For clear vases, use glass pebbles and water. It’s important to create a sturdy base that’s heavy enough to keep the arrangement from tipping. Some silk blossoms are heavier than they look, after all.
When making the arrangements, choose a flower that will be the focal point. This blossom should be the tallest in the arrangement, but should not exceed three to four times the height of the chosen vase. Choose a flower that is richly colored as well as large in order to really catch the eye. If it seem to droop at all, just trim the stem a little to stabilize it. Once this flower is in place you can add slightly shorter and smaller flowers to accent and provide visual support. Don’t place any flowers below the lip of the vase or they will not be seen. These accent flowers will draw the eye to the center of the arrangement. Usually, three to five small flowers are sufficient for smaller arrangements.
Now, it’s time to fill in. Use fern fronds and other leafy greenery, as well as smaller accent flowers like eucalyptus branch, forget me not, baby’s breath and forsythia. You want to make things look properly full without crowding. Remember that imperfection is better than perfect symmetry, which looks rather artificial. It might take a few tries, but when you’re done, you’ll have a beautiful silk flower arrangement for your wedding.
