How To Pick A Pink Diamond Engagement Ring

by

If you want a modern twist on a classic choose a pink diamond engagement ring. Ever since the’50s presenting a bride with a diamond ring has become a tradition for men. The groom shows the woman how he will care for her by spending a large portion of his salary on her ring.

For the past decade, the traditional white diamond has not been the first choice of engagement ring buyers, who are opting instead for the beautiful, rare colored stones.

There are four C’s of color diamonds that you must know prior to the purchase of a pink engagement ring. These four C’s have just a hint of difference in meaning from the rules for white diamonds. The 4 C’s for determining the right diamond are: Color of the stone; Carat, or size of the stone; Cut, the shape of the stone; and Clarity, the quality of the stone. The price of an engagement ring will be established by these four C’s.

Color — This is the most important feature of a colored diamond. You can find slight suggestions of color in some clear stones. The color can be so faint in some smaller stones that it’s only detectable when looking at the stone from a certain angle on in special lighting. Consistency is the key to good color in a stone. A good stone will have the same color throughout.

Carat — This refers to the size of the stone, which definitely influences the cost. In a colored diamond, however, the color supersedes size in importance. It’s very rare to find a small stone with deep color, and these stones are even more expensive than clearer, larger-carat stones. If you have your heart set on a very colorful stone, it’s quote possible you’ll have to get a smaller stone in a setting that emphasizes its brilliance.

The cut of a stone is important because it can either enhance or diminish the stone’s color. The cut in pink diamond engagement rings is of utmost importance. The cuts that most enhance the color of pink diamond engagement rings are: Princess Round, and/or Marquise. A colorless stone is better if you prefer more unique cuts.

Clarity is essential regardless of the diamond you choose. Clear stones do not contain any blemishes, fractures or flaws. Clarity of color is even more essential with colored stones because cloudiness can retract from the diamond’s true brilliance and intensity.
