They Joys of Personal Home Gyms

April 26, 2010 by

If you didn’t know already, my wife is a personal trainer. She spends her time using her exercise knowledge to its fullest. This is often a great thing for me, because it means she keeps me working out to the maximum. I can’t count the number of times I was ready to stop my workout only to be pushed a little further by my wife.

My wife also feels it is important we have personal home gyms with which to exercise in. Indeed, we have not one, but two personal home gyms.

Invasion of the Personal Home Gyms

I’m still not sure exactly how it happened. It was something to do with the necessity of a shower and bathroom. The first of our personal home gyms is located in what was once our master bedroom. Although it certainly wasn’t my preference to sacrifice my bedroom to gym equipment, it did save me from having to lug the heavy equipment to the second floor of our home. For this I am thankful.

One More For Good Measure

You’ve probably noticed that over time you simply acquire more stuff. It seems the stuff I acquire takes the form of exercise equipment. My wife believes we are still shy several critical exercise machines. This is a surprise for me, because I’m sure the equipment in our first gym can work my entire body.

My wife apparently hit the deal of a lifetime at a local garage sale, because she came home with plenty of new gym equipment one day. In fact, she brought home more equipment than could fit in the first of our personal home gyms. I worried that our living room would be sacrificed to provide needed space. Luckily, my wife spared the living room and moved our new equipment onto our porch instead.

Adding to the Collection

I try not to think about it, but I know this isn’t the end of our equipment purchases. My wife is always on the lookout for exercise equipment we don’t yet have. At least the IRS doesn’t yet have a home gym tax.

Trying Something New

Lately I’v been hoping my wife sticks to working at a local gym. Perhaps this would curb the growth of exercise equipment in my home. Of course, I can’t really complain because I do enjoy working out in the comfort of my own home. I just wish I had a place to sleep.

There is plenty of information about home gyms on the internet. For additional information take a look at this site on personal home gyms.
