Downloading the program is straightforward, but you need to get the “FileZilla Client” version in order to transfer files. If you want to make your files available to others, use the server version. First go to the site manager, choose new site; put in your URL. In the box marked “Host” enter ftp.yoursite.com; the server type is FTP; logon is Normal; and use the regular username and password you have for this site.
The main screen layout is quite simple, your computer is on the left and the website is on the right side. Start on the left, select the files from your computer you need to transfer, then go to the right side and choose a location where you want them to go. On most occasions you will transfer your files to the public_html folder. Simply select the files you wish to transfer, right-click to select “Upload”, and watch it do the job.
KompoZer is a free HTML editing program produced by the folks at the Mozilla foundation. It is very user friendly, and shows you on the screen what your document will look like. The program alive as you to create HTML documents or modify those you have without learning a lot of HTML. You start by going to “File”, then selecting “New” to open a brand-new document, or “Open” to work on a pre-existing HTML file.
You will probably recognize the display as having a great deal of similarity to the MS Word screen, with toolbars on the top, which will permit you to alter the text position, font, underline, bold, etc. The bottom of the screen has four tabs, all of which allow you to see the document in a different way. The normal view is useful for most tasks permitting you to see your changes as you make them. If you need to insert some HTML code, like a PayPal button, you’ll need to go to the tab marked “Source”. Use the preview tab, in order to see what your page will look like in a web browser.
