The Right Way Of Estimating Plumbing Man-Hours

February 17, 2010 by

Most homeowners find it difficult to synchronize with the duration of a plumbing job once it commences. The ad-hoc course of action makes the monitoring job very difficult. In addition, the dishonest plumbing team doesn’t provide you with the genuine information and confuses you further. Consequently, you fail to develop estimations on the plumbing project on hand.

Hence, one should formulate the right methods to calculate the man-hours spent on the different segments of the home plumbing setup. The figures give you a rough idea about the average time spent by a plumbing team or a plumber.

Kick off the task by observing the different plumbing fixtures of your plumbing setup. The aggregation of the man-hours spent on different plumbing fixtures would give you an estimation of the total man-hours spent.

Commence the examination by measuring the length of plumbing pipes you would require for the remodeling job. Furthermore, determine the type of pipe that would be suitable for your plumbing architecture. Fir example, a PVC pipe would take lesser time to install than the copper or steel pipes.

Next, observe the body of a particular plumbing unit and evaluate the number of anchors, joints or hangs in the unit. Now, avail the guidance of an expert to determine the approximate man-hours for the concerned plumbing fixture. Repeat the same process with the other plumbing fixtures of the home as well.

The plumbing fixtures connect to their plumbing counterparts by threads, soldering or joints. While some units require either of these modes, some fixtures incorporate all the three modes of attachment. A plumbing fixture requiring all the three modes of attachment would require more time than the other fixtures.

Remember that the final value of the estimated man-hours act as a standard for your evaluation. However, the actual man-hours spent on your plumbing job may differ from the estimated values. Make sure that the aberration is not a large one. Recheck the course of action if the things look a bit suspicious.

A right frame of mind complemented with a right logic can save the day for you. If you get caught up with the complications of numerous calculations then make way for an expert. Alternatively, one can surf through the web pages of the Internet to gather some information about the same.

You should calculate or estimate the total man-hours of work, especially if it is and hourly-work. What if your estimations are wrong? like overestimating or underestimating.
