The Many Positive Effects Relaxation

Relaxation is crucial to our health and overall well-being, especially in today’s stressed out world. Today we know that stress is linked to the development of many diseases, including heart disease which is the number one cause of death. Relaxation is an antidote to stress and gives us the opportunity to unwind both the body and the mind.

The benefits of relaxation are numerous, both psychological and physical, and have been well researched. Everyone can benefit greatly from learning even the most basic relaxation techniques.

What are the physical benefits? If done frequently enough (minimum 3 times a week) in can lower your blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease, strengthen your immune system (stress hormones suppress the immune response), release tension from muscles and joints, enhances your metabolism, and greatly reduce the risk of development of a variety of diseases.

How about psychological benefits? They are also many and include emotional stability, increased concentration and memory, better problem solving abilities, less anxiety, less anger, less frustration, decreased depression, greater creativity, increased ability to think clearly, greater efficiency, prevention of more serious mental illnesses, and many more.

Relaxation is a really powerful healing tool that can greatly assist you in becoming more confident, healthier, optimistic, balanced and generally more happier person. It would be a shame not to use it.

If you wish to learn relaxation, there are many different techniques you could try – meditation, Yoga, Tai Chi, music, exercise, massage, deep breathing, and visualization just to name a few.
