Ten Steps On How To Hypnotize Someone

by

Most old films depict hypnosis as something so mysterious and powerful. It is often re-enforced by the image of an evil hypnosis who waves his pocket watch back and forth someone’s eyes until they ripple to oblivion. Hypnotized people are presented as if they have become slaves of the the hypnotist.

However, this representation of hypnotism is contrary to how hypnotism really works. Today, hypnotism is understood as a science which facilitates thinking and action through direct suggestions. Unlike how it is depicted, hypnotized subjects do things out of absolute free will. The hypnotist merely serves as a guide or a source of suggestions that help his subjects to effectively use the power of their imaginations. In fact, you can learn how to hypnotize someone by simply taking note of the tips provided below.

1. You only need to make sure that your subject has concentration and relaxation. They should also have an expectation of what should happen so that your suggestions become more effective.

2. Hypnotism works best when the subject has trust and confidence on you. Talk to you subjects and make them feel comfortable. You should tell them what to do and what to expect while being hypnotized. Telling them the condition their minds will enter into while being hypnotized is often more effective than that while hypnotizing occurs.

3. Ask how much your subject knows about hypnotism. This will necessarily help you assess how to deal with your subject’s psyche.

4. Describe the procedure to your subject and ask if everything is clear. Subjects are often hesitant to trust you and become more open to suggestions out of fear of hypnosis itself. Re-assure your subject that they will remember everything that happens during the process and that they cannot be forced into doing something they would not do under normal circumstances.

5. Keep yourself aware of the frequent questions which subjects through to their hypnotists. By being able to give relevant answers to your subject, you will soon be earning their trust to you.

6. Make you subject sit or lie down in a relaxed position and dim the lighting of the room. Turn off mobile phones or music gadgets to ensure zero distractions.

7. Make your subject close his or her eyes and facilitate his or her imagination by asking him or her to be in a happy place.

8. Speak in a low voice. Slowly talk to your subject in a “hypnotic” tone, match the pacing of your talking to the breathing of your subject. Use a soothing voice to give suggestions to your subject, speak more until suggestions become instructions and eventually become directions. Once you are sure the subject is very relaxed, induction to hypnosis has ended.

9. Your subject should be ready for suggestions. Use this opportunity to ask questions or suggest things your subject might want to do. Perform things necessary to achieve the goals of the hypnosis.

10. To end the session, simply tell your subject to stop imagining. You may do this by suggesting to them that in five counts they will get out from the hypnosis or through finger snaps.
