I train at a hard core gym that is full of competitive powerlifters, bodybuilders and strongmen. There is heavy metal playing all the time and no scrawny “elite” personal trainers. One thing I love about this gym is the wide variety of equipment available for members to use. No I am not talking about the latest machine to blast your calves, I am talking about hard training tools like kettle bells, club-bells, chains, boards, bands and blast straps. It is very common to see athletes using bands on the bar while benching, squatting or dead-lifting to add resistance and improve bar acceleration. At the same time there might be a someone banging out kettle-bell swings and another person doing board presses like the power-lifters at Westside Barbell.
