Banners and military flags have been in use for thousands of years. Indeed almost every society in which people live under urban conditions has had flags or vexiloids, which are flag-like objects, the vast majority of which have had religious or military significance. In the last few centuries flags have also been used for political parties, commercial enterprises, and signaling purposes (for example mount flag poles for sea vessels and such). The national flag, such as the Pakistani flag, is more of recent development, interestingly.

People living in Toronto love their cars. They like to drive the cars everywhere, but some signs show us that the blind love is on the way out. Saving money has become the order of the day. Many commuters now look for new ways and how to change their daily routines and economize in the process. Recently we had a chance to view mockup of streetcar that is the future of our rails in Toronto. We do not know when, yet. People also use a terminology LRV meaning (Light Rail Vehicle), but basically mean the same thing. If you are fond of public transit and hope for a better future with it, the trip to see the mockup is worth of taking. Perhaps it is no surprise, that many people attending had small children with them. Kids get always excited about vehicles on rails. We should hope the positive feeling to stay with them rest of life. There were people mocking the display and anything to do with transit, they always prefer cars. It is an ingrained attitude that can be changed. It is glamour of cars against new the glamour for new streetcars. During International Film Festival major movie stars come to Toronto and usually they ride the limos across the city, to red carpet or anywhere. This is one of the mines that was detonated below the German lines at the outset of the Battle of the Somme in 1916. The explosion was captured on film and is frequently shown in documentaries about the Battle of the Somme. After driving around the area for a while, I found the Newfoundland Park Memorial & Visitors Centre and pulled over to have a look.
