Strange Scholarship Programs

There are numerous types of scholarship programs available for a diverse group of students. Most people know about scholastic and academic scholarships. Apart from sports and academics, most people think that the only other types of scholarship programs are from large endowments and corporations. There are nevertheless a different class of scholarships that few have heard of. These are the scholarship programs for the unique, and often odd, scholar.

Not numerous students realize that there are a multitude of scholarships offered to them. Depending on the scholar, there might be several 2010 scholarships available for people based upon their interests or physical characteristics. Many students are amazed to find out that there might be scholarships offered simply based on personal interest, physical stature, or bias toward a specific hobby.

Once you begin looking, you quickly discover that the list of scholarships for which an person does qualify for is quite amazing. Depending on the benefactor who arranged the scholarship, the requirements can vary from relatively benign scholastic achievements to something wholly unique, such as the ability to speak a Star Trek dialect. In the latter statement I am referring to the Klingon Language Institute, KOR Memorial Scholarship (yes it is a real scholarship.)

Owing to the vague nature of several of these scholarships, receiving the funds may be as undemanding as applying for the award. Often, competition for these types of scholarship programs is not big and funds are awarded relatively swiftly.

The basic moral of the above is simply apply for all of the scholarships that you are qualified to receive. You just may get a few. Even though the award may well not fully balance the cost of tuition, it may help, and there are several more options offered.
