Start Those Summer Home Improvement Projects Now

It’s officially spring and even though the weather in your part of the country might not quite be warm and sunny, it’s definitely time to start planning out your new outdoor house projects. By getting a jump start on those outside projects you’ll have more free time during the summer months to sit back and enjoy the warm weather without a lot of work.

Spring is the perfect time of the year to work outside because you usually don’t have to worry about the humidity of the summer months and the spring rains usually help any plants you are trying to get started. Here are some great outside projects you can start before summer:

Inspect and Clean Gutters: The gutters of your house probably took a beating through the winter months. Ice and water and all sorts of debris from late fall can do quite a number on gutters and if you haven’t replaced them in a while. You might may want to check them over for leaks or weak points. A leaky gutter could sending water against your home and that can cause wood to rot around your roof line.

Plant Grass: Generally the fall and spring are the best seasons to plant grass. You can plant in the fall to help your grass grow strong roots, but the spring is an excellent time as well because you can take advantage of the mild weather and rain to really start your grass growing quickly. You usually can’t just throw grass seed on the ground and expect something to happen. To really get a thick lawn you’ll want to read up on some tips for planting grass and be sure to use the right grass seed for your gardening zone.

Make A Raised Flower Bed: The perfect outdoor house improvement project for the spring is one which takes advantage of the warm weather and helps you prepare your home for the summer months. making a flower bed from railroad ties is the perfect project to beautify the outside of your home just in time for summer.

Don’t put off summer home improvement projects until June or July. Start taking advantage of the sale prices now and get to work outside! When the dog days of summer hit and the thermometer reaches into the high 90s, you’ll be happy you got some much done in these early spring months and you can just sit back and relax!
