So Many Fat Burning Diets To Choose From, Which One Is Best?
Every month popular magazines tout new and amazing fat burning diets. Advertisements promote diet pills and supplements. All claim to be the best fat burning diet plan or the best way to lose weight. Convincing endorsements makes these diets seem legitimate and worth trying.
However, separating fact from fiction and likely success from failure is difficult. There are clearly some unhealthy not to mention unachievable diet products and plans around and here are some guidelines to help you avoid them.
Look for a scientific basis for the claims. The grapefruit diet has been around for over a generation. It claims that grapefruits are natural fat burners, but this has never been proven scientifically. Yes, grapefruit is a healthy and low calorie source of vitamin C, but there’s no evidence that eating half of a grapefruit at every meal will burn fat.
Avoid extremely low calorie diet plans. Extreme diets with very low caloric intake and little protein may cause rapid weight loss, but the weight won’t stay off. Without adequate protein the body will lose muscle tissue, slowing the rate at which the body burns calories, which in turn results in weight gain.
Ignore any form of diet plan that does not involve effort. You will not lose weight without following a diet plan and taking regular exercise.
A well-balanced diet is essential for healthy weight loss and weight maintenance. Diets that focus on one or two types of food and eliminate any of the basic food groups are not healthy and will eventually backfire.
Detoxification diets that flush toxins from the body are potentially dangerous. The body has its own organs for removing toxins. If these organs aren’t doing their jobs, you need a doctor, not a diet.
After an opening period of quick weight loss, if you are following a healthy and well balanced diet and taking regular exercise you should see a slow but steady drop in weight. This is really the best way forward.
Sometimes simply making a few small changes results in such a huge difference. For example, you could start by using skimmed or semi-skimmed instead of full fat milk. When positive results are noticed by this kind of change people are encouraged to find more ways of diet regime management. Avoid complicated diet plans and keep your goals realistic – you won’t be frustrated and setting yourself up for failure this way.
There is no quick fix where weight management is concerned. Quite simply, you need to get rid of your bad eating habits and start exercising regularly and the steady results you see will give you all the encouragement and motivation you need to continue.
