Sleeping bags are also shaped like a mummy, broad and open at the shoulder and narrow and closed at the bottom. It is able to retain heat better. But then unlike the rectangular bag, the mummy bag cannot be rolled up as much but has to be stuffed into a sack. There are a variety of sleeping bags in the market. The synthetic bags are advantageous under wet conditions as compared to down bags. They are also cheaper than down bags but heavier. Finally the sleeping bag that you chose will depend upon the conditions where you intend to use. But then with a sleeping bag you can sleep anywhere.
