Reducing Your Weight Without Dieting

The idea of dieting turns a lot of people off however, fortunately there are ways of slimming down without necessarily going on a diet.

There’s no easy way to lose weight, but if you only have a few pounds to get rid of, small changes can make a big difference. You will still have to watch what you eat however, but there will be none of that tedious calorie-counting and strict meal-planning stuff.

Eating breakfast is not only necessary to give your metabolism a kick-start in the morning, it is also one of the three factors most likely to lead to weight loss. It is acknowledged as one of the three most important factors in slimming down and prepares your body for the rigors of the day ahead, and if you have a healthy breakfast some of that energy that you will be burning up will be fat as well.

Experts concur that eating five or six light meals a day is much more effective for weight-loss than the conventional three square meals that we were brought up with. At each meal you should eat only enough to fill you for two or three hours until your next, small meal as this helps you keep your metabolism working all day, instead of slowing down because there’s no food to digest for another five hours.

Stay away from junk food as they are packed with empty calories that can only do your slimming prospects more harm than good. Pack healthy snacks to eat at work, and make your own food at home (fruit, vegetables and whole grains are ideal). Other metabolism-boosting foods that are good to eat throughout the day are spinach, broccoli, apples, citrus fruit, blueberries, nuts, brown rice, barley and oats.

Avoid the temptation of going for that soda or that cream-laden hot drink. Water thoroughly cleanses your system while keeping organs like the kidney in optimum condition. It can also give you the illusion of fullness before a meal which is useful to prevent you from binging especially when you are going to that big dinner party or something. Many weight loss experts would suggest that you increase the amount of exercise that you are doing. Short stretches of exercise like 10-minute walks but done a few times a day is more likely to lead to successful weight loss. Having your own exercise equipment at home is also one of the three most important factors which leads to weight loss, as mentioned earlier. Having some form of exercise equipment at home is another of the three factors mentioned earlier. The equipment doesn’t have to be hundreds of dollars worth of home gym all-in-one machinery – it can be as simple as an exercise ball or a band. A key benefit of having an equipment at home is that you can exercise whenever you want to without having to worry about traffic, what to wear in the gym, or any of that stuff.

Whether you have two pounds or twenty to lose, small changes will make a difference. Just remember that your ultimate objective is to lead a healthier lifestyle that would allow you to maintain a weight that is proportionate with your age, height and gender.
