Looking to buy a radio controlled car online is no easy task when so many choices are presented to you. It is so easy as when buying a real car to be swayed by the fancy sports version.
Consider the much overlooked radio controlled crawlers or truggies that may look bulkier and heavy but trust me – they are also more enjoyable to play with.
Sceptical? Well don’t be…these models are serious bits of kit. They are ruthless in the sheer way the tackle any object that dare crosses their path…and if it does, well they simple go over it!
Most surfaces including rocks , beaches and even swampy terrains are no challenge for the higher specked radio controlled crawlers.
The decent models have a solid aluminium construction, amazing flexibility and a high torque steering servo and that’s just for starters. They have heavy duty high performance tyres with deep earth gripping tread that is ideal for climbing over any rocky surface.
These Radio controlled crawlers are animals in action. They tear up terrain and surfaces that normal RC cars would die on. This makes having one of these machines my primary reason over a standard RC car. They are just awesome.
The elite models will have a suspension system built to with stand some serious bumps and scraps so don’t be shy with them. However it is important to make sure you buy the better brands to ensure they are built properly.
Spending less than $100 on a crawler is not worth it long term as the costs would soon spiral out of control when you have to keep replacing the parts. Not to mention the frustration at having to stop start every time you hit a slight bump.
Seriously, if you can, spend that bit more on the better machines and bigger brands like Acme or HSP brands and you wont be disappointed. It’s like most things in life, you get for what you pay for.
Ultimately of course this is your purchase so its your choice but please make sure you put your chosen model through its paces and really make it work for the title it so proudly owns. After all…its not like other radio controlled cars.
