Popular Diets You Should Know About

April 18, 2010 by

There is so much money to be made selling weight loss information to the general public that the market has become flooded with products. And there is little regulation here.

Even more complex, are all the different fad diets enticing you into their twisted and unhealthy methods.

So here is a review of popular fad diets so that you can make a better decision:

1. Low carb plans: Taking out carbs will put the nail in your weight loss coffin. You see, you need carbs to exercise with intensity. And if you aren’t training with a high level of intensity it will be impossible to create the optimal fat burning environment within your body.

2. Extremely high carbohydrate plans: These do work for some people, but not for everybody. You see, if you are highly sensitive to insulin, you can tolerate high carbohydrate intakes with little ill effect. Most people, however, should not be front loading their carbohydrate intakes.

3. Low fat: Unfortunately, low fat diets can be very damaging to your health. You see, not only does fat provide the building blocks for your nervous system, but it also provides the building blocks for the production of fat burning hormones.

4. Balanced: Of all the different diets, balanced diets are by far the healthiest. You see, optimal health and nutrition can only be achieved with a balance of nutrients. After all, combinations of foods interact with each other in ways we still don’t understand.

5. Liquid diets: Taking out solid food from your diet and surviving on liquids is not only unnecessary, but extremely painful. Your body (and digestive tract) are made to process solid food, not liquid shakes. So stick with whole foods and avoid fasting.

Of all the aforementioned diets you are better served using a balanced diet. And if you are insulin resistant, you may want to reduce your carb intake, but don’t eliminate it. And remember that taking action is by far the most important ingredient for weight loss success!
