Perennial Gardening Secrets And Tips
Gardening with perennials is a very popular way to garden. The reason for this is with perennials, every year the flowers and plants grow back after the winter and bloom again. Adding a few annuals to the garden may create splashes of color, but most should be perennials because then you do not have to spend the money and time to replant everything each year.
Great enjoyment for many years can be had from a well implemented and designed garden full of variety. Everyone in the house can get involved selecting and planting the flowers and grasses for each flower bed. With a little bit of time, love, and care, beautiful blooms year after year will be there for you to view. Flower arrangements and dried flower bouquets can be made from the flowers for even more enjoyment. The house curb appeal will also be greatly improved with can be great for resale value as well.
There are many types of perennials available including some of my favorites, allium bulbs and bearded iris bulbs. They both need an area with well drained soil and plentiful sun, and are fairly easy to grow. They make good additions to gardens due to the size, color, and number of blooms that these produce. It is common for bulbs to multiply over time. The need for removal or transplant may occur after several years; new bulbs can be transferred to other parts of the yard.
There is a wide range of climates where you can grow perennials. No matter where you live, there are bound to be plenty of perennials for you to choose from for the garden. When choosing what to grow, I usually plant the taller perennials in the back with shorter ones near the front of the bed of flowers.
It is also a good idea to vary the color and leaf type of the plants. This can create a more pleasing look for the garden. It is also good to consider the season that all the different bulbs will bloom in. Having enough variety so that something is always blooming is nice.
Allium bulbs and bearded iris bulbs both have good bloom times, this contributes to their popularity. It is always a good idea to plan the garden before starting any of your planting. This will help in the long run and make everything much easier. It can be hard on plants to keep moving them all the time, but once in a while is okay. Again, most bulbs like lots of sun and good soil. Have fun planting.
