Paintball Fundamentals And Basics

by

Paintball can be suitably termed as a physical and challenging sport which requires strategic and tactical thinking by the players. Numerous types of paintball games exist which attract audiences. It can be a very stimulating game to watch. To play paintball you will see it in areas such as woods, arenas and fields specially made for “rec paintball.” Paintball can be played in several ways.

Woodsball is a very logical name given to paintball when it is played in the woods. Large woodsball fields may be used for scenario games or war-type games. To minimize undergrowth some woodsball fields are groomed as such. Number of players can vary in playing woodsball at one time, it can be small or large. In comparison to paintball played in arenas and specially made rec fields this type of paintball is slower and strategic.

Surrounded by protective netting to protect spectators from getting hit by stray paintballs, are the smaller fields used to play arena paintball. Manmade structures like empty utility line spools, bunkers, and inflatable structures can be a part of these fields sometimes. Names of the two types of games played in arena paintball are speedball and xball.

An empty field consisting only of inflatable obstacles and roofless bunkers that are distributed equally on each half of the field is used to play the speedball game. For the players this format is more competitive and for the spectators more exhilirating.

Professional Xball matches last 50 minutes, split into two halves. Amateur Xball games have shorter matches. Xball is a team game with multiple rounds of Center Flag played until the clock runs out. A team which wins a round gets one point. When the clock runs out the team leading with more points is declared as the winning team for the match.

Freeform is the distinguishing trait of Rec style paintball. For playing this paintball fairly open areas covered by manmade structures or bunkers are used. When re-enactment games are played it consists of hundreds of players otherwise can be played by smaller number of people also.

Teamwork is necessary in paintball regardless of the type of paintball being played . Some team members will guard while others move through the field and some will give off cover shots when it is required of them. Teamwork essentially needs effective communication.
