Marriage Can Be Stressful

December 22, 2009 by

Stress in a marriage is much more common thing than we could ever imagine. It often strikes after a few years since the wedding and can destroy your trust and love to your spouse. Still, there are many ways to lower the tension between spouses as long as both of them want to cooperate and save their feelings to each other. The most important thing is working together when we want to get rid of stress in our marriage and thus rebuild our relationships and trust to each other.

Among many possible sources of stress in a marriage lay these related with problems with communication. Of course, so called “quiet days” or quarrels can be very stressful to us, but we cannot forget that even one word too much said at an inappropriate moment can be a trigger of stress. The most dangerous situation occurs when we don’t realize that our words can hurt our spouse. This is why we should always be careful what and when we are saying, even when it is only a joke or poking fun.

Another source of stress in a marriage is our behavior. It is normal that after a few years together we love each other in different way than it was during our honeymoon. Still, we can put these feeling back and repair our relationships if we only want to do it. It may be anything – a dinner with candles or a long walk in the evening. By doing so we can break the routine in our marriage and thus lower the level of stress it can cause.

Stress in the marriage is also often caused by the lack of trust. When we worry where our spouse is or why he or she is late, we automatically increase the level of stress in our relationship. What’s more, some of us tend to ask their second half where they’ve been or why they weren’t home on time. Such behavior will sooner or later lead to accusation of betrayal and make things get worse. This is why the trust is so important in marriage. Of course we have the right to worry when our spouse is late, but we should trust in his love to us. When we are unable to do it, stress will soon destroy our marriage.

Stress can strike in our marriage at any time. It may appear when there is too much routine in your relationships, when you or your spouse suspects adultery, when a child appears in your family or when you have problems at work. In fact marriage is one of the most stressful things we can meet as long as we can’t listen to our spouses and cooperate with them. We can get rid of a stress in a marriage only when we do it together, in other case the tension between us will only rise and end in a divorce.
