If You Want To Make An Impression, Give A Ring
Finding a great gift, one that will be enjoyed and appreciated for years, can be very difficult. Anyone who has ever had to pick out a gift for someone they cared about or someone they wished to impress already knows how hard the process can be. However, there is one gift option that is frequently overlooked that is always a hit. That gift is a ring.
Receiving a ring as a gift has a great impact because it is rather unexpected. Most of us think of rings as something that we only receive for at weddings and engagements, but the facts are that rings make great gifts for many occasions. When you give someone a ring, you definitely have the advantage of surprise. This effectively makes the ring stand out in their mind for years and years to come. If you think back to a time when you received an unexpected gift, it is likely that you remember that gift more than others. You might not remember what your parents bought you for your eighth birthday. Yet, you probably remember the birthday when they gave you a puppy very well. You get the point; gifts that stand out are gifts that you remember.
Rings also make great gifts due to the fact that they are durable and lasting. In general, people keep rings for the rest of their lives, meaning that your gift of a ring will have weight and permanence. Contrast this fact against the idea of giving someone a gift certificate. Most people will not even remember what they bought with a gift certificate five months later, much less five years later. A ring is completely the opposite, as a quality ring will last more than a lifetime. In this way, the gift of a ring will be remembered forever.
Rings commonly use precious metals such as gold or silver and may also have precious stones. As a result, a ring is instantly perceived to have value and anything that is perceived to be valuable with be appreciated more. Humans are visual creatures and a ring, due to the fact that it is usually shiny and striking, successfully resonates with our visual center. Most people will see a ring and instantly appreciate the quality of the craftsmanship and its inherit beauty.
We all want our gifts to be liked, remembered and appreciated for years to come. The facts are that most of the gifts that we give will simply not perform this function. No matter how much love and appreciation is behind the gift of a microwave, for example, it will never have the emotional resonance of a beautifully crafted and well-chosen ring. There are lots of ways that you can let someone know that you care, but a ring is one of the best gifts you can give due to its durability and beauty.
