How To Regain Your Indepence After A Codependent Relationship
Whether you a just starting off on your own or just getting out of a codependent relationship just make not think of independence as a natural feeling at all. The best way to overcome this problem is to take it one small step at a time.
By following these simple steps you will soon be making great strides forward towards independence. It is important however that you take it slow and work on these steadily in order to ensure that you get the best results possible.
Pay Your Own Way – If you are constantly mooching off of other people then you are screaming out the fact that you are dependent. It can be your mom and da or boyfriend or girlfriend or even both for that matter that are always paying your way. If this is the case paying for yourself is going to be hard to get used to.
There are bills that absolutely need to be paid. Things like paying the rent and paying for the utilities are necessities and fall into this category. In order for you to be accountable for these bills you need to put them in your name. If you are going to eat out or see a movie you need to pay for that yourself too.
Give Yourself Some Me Time – If you are accustomed to living with your family or are use to being in a long-term relationship being alone all of the time can be a very strange feeling for you. Instead of constantly trying to be surrounded by other people you should try to get to know yourself better.
Starting a hobby that you can do by yourself is a great way to get around this. You can even just decide to start reading more. This will enable you to find out more about yourself and figure out what you want from life.
Get Outside Your Comfort Zone – Being independent isn’t easy. You are going to have to step out of your normal box for this. I assure you though it will get easier with time.
Keep in mind that just because you are independent doesn’t mean you have to live in solitude. Get out and have fun with it!
