How to Inform a Coworker’s Spouse She Is Cheating on Him

If you know that your coworker is having an affair, you probably feel like their spouse should know about this infidelity. Of course, there are many ways to go about this and all of them are difficult. There is no telling that your coworker’s spouse will want to know that she is cheating on him and he may take it out on you for letting him know. Yet, can you deal with the guilt of keeping a secret?
It is harder when you are in a situation like this with a colleague. It is completely natural for you to think about your job. You have to consider what the atmosphere around the office will be like as well.
Still and all, sometimes it is better not to “mind your own business.” You have to think about how you would feel in this situation. The first step in deciding how to inform a coworker’s spouse she is cheating on him is to think about your relationship with your coworker and with her spouse. Specifically, you need to consider whether you know them both well enough to talk about so intensely personal.
Of course, you should never say anything unless you are absolutely convinced that something is going on. You may know things about this woman that her husband does not. You shouldn’t say anything, however, unless you have absolute proof that infidelity is happening.
You may want to sit down and have a casual chat with your coworker herself. May be you can advise her to confront her spouse and tell him exactly what’s going on. You talk and words can encourage her and show her the right path if she is confused. She may even gather courage to tell her husband instead of you or someone else breaking the news.
If this does not work out, you may want to indirectly caution her husband without giving away much information. Do not forget respect, trust and friendship while talking to anybody about this. Do not embarrass your coworker or her spouse. Everything has to be done discreetly and in confidence. Remember you are only trying to help the couple and not cause more trouble.
