Each spring many people look to their yards and start the process of planting grass seed in hope of growing a green lawn before too long. Whether you are planting a new lawn or just patching some bare spots in an existing yard there are some things you can do to assure that your grass will grow. Lots of Water: You will definitely need a garden hose and a sprinkler or sprayer. If it doesn’t rain each day you will want to give your grass at least 10 to 20 minutes of water. The main thing to remember when you begin growing your lawn is that it will require lots of water.
Do Not Walk On It: New grass seed must be left alone and not walked on while it is starting to grow. Some people rope off an area around where they are planting grass in an effort to prevent the new grass seed from being stepped on by careless walkers and pets. Other than forgetting to water your grass, walking on newly planted grass is an almost certain way to destroy your efforts.
Mow Your Grass Sparingly: Sometimes grass grow too much and in those situations you should learn how to mow high grasses.While cutting your grass does make it look neater, it is important to remember that you should let your grass become mature before you mow it for the first time. Many people know that when you do mow your lawn you should use a higher setting on your lawn mower so that your grass can grow thick and green. Grass needs a chance to grow strong and healthy before you cut it down.
It is easy to grow the yard of your dreams if you are able to put in a little time and effort every day. To have a beautiful yard you only need to spend two to three hours a week watering and mowing it. The first time you try to grow a lawn you might need to invest in some affordable gardening tools such as the best mower for the money.
