There is a lot of talk these days about super foods, but do you know what they are. Super foods can be defined as healthy foods that offer many benefits because of their high content of beneficial substances like dietary fibers, vitamins, minerals, anthocyanins, and phytonutrients. Eating foods that contain these substances will help you stay fit, healthy, and slim.

Super foods don’t work the same way other slimming supplements do. While these supplements may help you get slim, they will also cause suffering without you even knowing it. Some of the available supplements can damage your organs and cause heart problems.

You do not need specific foods to slim your body. A healthy diet plan can be a variety of super foods that will help you maintain weight. It can also fight diseases and make you live longer.

Being able to make super foods part of your everyday diet requires nothing more than a little creativity. We have to remain open minded and be creative and remember that recipes don’t have to be followed precisely. Eating blueberries can lower the risk of some types of cancer as well as heart disease. This is the reason that health care professionals put blueberries at the top of the list of suggested foods.

Spinach is great to eat while on a diet for several reasons. Not only is it low in calories, but each 100 grams of raw spinach contains 2.2 grams of dietary fiber.

Broccoli is an excellent source of vitamin A, C, and K. It too is most beneficial when eaten raw and compliments many salads and side dishes. 100 grams of broccoli delivers 2.6 grams of dietary fiber.

While walnuts are high in fat, the fat they contain is mostly polyunsaturated and monounsaturated, the kind that can actually lower the body’s LDL cholesterol. Walnuts are a good addition to a healthy diet, but you have to be careful with them. Since they are high in calories, you may want to modify recipes to not include added meat or cheese. The other option is to simply limit your intake of walnuts.

Pomegranate juice should be part of everyone’s daily diet since it contains beneficial antioxidants like tannins, polyphenols, and anthocyanins. Besides helping you lose weight, drinking pomegranate juice daily can control blood pressure.

Cabbage is one of those vegetables that’s commonly stored in most refrigerators. It’s a great diet food that gives the immune system a boost and lowers cancer risks. Try mixing some cabbage with some sesame oil, sesame seeds, salt, pepper, and vinegar. This recipe is not only delicious, but will help you with your weight loss goals.

Almond contains high amount of fat, but the fat is monounsaturated, which reduces bad cholesterol. It will not make you fat! It even helps you lowering the risk of heart disease.

Turmeric is actually considered to be a spice and is an excellent addition to soups and stews. Not only will it make your recipes delicious but the properties in turmeric can help you lose weight and prevent breast cancer, melanoma, prostate cancer, and childhood leukemia.

Now that you know which foods you should include in a healthy diet plan, head to the grocery store and stock up on these super foods and start improving your health right away.
