Healthy Diet And Good Blood Pressure

by

These days, more and more people have become conscious of their health. And rightly so, as the casualties due to poor health continually increase day by day. People have thrown themselves into exercise frenzy, or launched a crash diet in the hopes of keeping the weight down and achieving good blood pressure. But what does this actually mean, and how can this be sustained on a long term basis?

Blood pressure refers to the pressure within the arteries as the muscles of the heart pumps out blood and contracts. A normal good blood pressure range should be around 120/80. However, as people age, and the body wear and tear, the human body is more susceptible to diseases, which includes heart problems, stroke, kidney diseases, as well as changes in the eyesight. While all these progression can never be put on hold, you can still preserve good health by maintaining good blood pressure.

To make sure your blood pressure is always within health range, maintain an ideal body weight. However, there are still people whose weights are within normal range but are suffering from high blood pressure. In cases like this, pay attention to your diet.

Proper diet is very crucial in maintaining good blood pressure. This means cutting down in fat and sodium intake and switching to high fiber diet, this includes vegetables and fresh fruits, lean meat and steamed food, and avoiding fried dishes. Another important factor that contributes to maintaining good blood pressure is having a healthy dose of physical exercise. There are a number of activities that can be included in this to enjoy variation such as swimming, cycling, gardening, brisk walking or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Of course, drinking should be in moderation and smoking should be avoided.

If you will take into account all these things, everything needed to maintain good blood pressure and good health would mean incorporating everything to your day to day life. Keep in mind that a healthy lifestyle is not a passing phase, or an overnight thing. To maintain good blood pressure, all the critical factors should not just be taken into account, but should be adapted in the day to day living.

However, if you think you have the need to take on a healthier lifestyle, make sure to consult with your doctor first. There are diet plans that may not be good for people with certain medical conditions, or physical activities that are not possible for people with special cases. In such cases, a thorough examination and evaluation from your doctor is highly recommended. Complications may result from abrupt change of lifestyle.

To have good blood pressure and a healthy lifestyle, self-discipline is imperative. As the old adage goes, too much of a good thing is bad. Everything should be in moderation. This might mean sacrificing some of the good stuff, but ultimately, nothing can be more rewarding than enjoying a long and rewarding life. And one effective way to ensure this is through adapting a good and healthy lifestyle.
