You probably have experienced deja vu, if you had watched this year\’s models walk down the strip. A hybrid mix between an office receptionist, vintage housewife and a bombshell might have come to mind. As outrageous as that sounds, the outfits are really quite stunning. By blending fashion from the past notably from the 50s, 60s, 70s and today, a new style has formed.
What is interesting about this year\’s summer styles is that there is something for everyone. Above the knee, below the knee and mid-calf are all featured, wrapping together the 60s and 70s. Instead of predominantly one specific color, a vibrant choice of colors are used.
A skirt that hangs below the knee with a low scooped neckline tops in various designs is great for career minded woman. Rounded, square, collared or draped cuts with lace or macrame create a feminine look. One of the most appealing thing about a layered lace dress is that it can look modest and sexy at the time. Having tassels that hang in front from the waist are great for creating a new look to a plain dress.
No matter your body shape, dresses have been designed to make you radiate. One of the best way to look sexy and modest at the same time is by wearing a belted gathered dress with a modest top. Straight shifts that carry a long lean body are way more attractive than a pants suit. A maxi dress is the only exception to the rule.
Long, loose fitting bellbottoms and of course, denim are casual wear featured this year. What seems to be increasingly important is the need to accentuate curves in all the right places than jeans of the past. No worry, skinny jeans are still here and probably will be for a while. However, what is currently apparent over is the military outfits which have lasted for many decades.
Though it may seem that the punk scene have disappeared, they have just evolved in a more positive way. The gothic and grunge scene are gone too and replacing them are leather and unusual tees. Teenagers continue to be making a statement in ways that show style but are using a more motorcycle chic trend to express it. Biker clothing is also finding a more gentle and appealing flair by adding suede, belts and color.
The styles of dresses and outfits for this year are proving that a more pleasing look is required. This year\’s fashion seems to fulfill a much needed update in today\’s fashion by taking the best of the past and giving it a unique spin to fit contemporary fashion. Well fitting clothes that show feminism and confidence is the result.
