To be a pet owner, you need to know that pets, especially dogs need regular exercise to have a happy and healthy life and to do their business.
You could take your dog for a quick walk around the block or simply allow him out in the yard to run and play until he is tired.
Just a walk around the block all the time won’t do. You can easily turn your dog into your exercise buddy. If you get up in the morning on those chilly fall days or winter mornings, your dog needs to be walked, so why not go for a jog with him and get some heart healthy cardio together?
Walking your pet and yourself can offer a lot of benefits. Many may think that walking isn’t a good form of exercise, but walking actually is a good form of activeness for the body.
Your dog will be happy and appreciative of the quality time and extra attention you will be giving him. You both will gain stamina from daily walking together and will be able to go further each time. In addition, you will both be getting fresh air and see more of your neighborhood each time.
After you both get used to the regular walking, you may possibly be able to transition into short runs but this depends on the breed of your dog.
If you have a smaller dog, their short legs may not be able to keep up on a run with you, but a big dog with longer legs will enjoy getting the exercise and stretching their long legs. You can try Frisbee or fetch at the park or even hikes together.
No matter which form of exercise you choose, your pet will enjoy it and you yourself will enjoy the benefits you will reap.
