Easy Way Of Replacing Bathroom Exhaust Fan

When the exhaust fan of your bathroom stops working then there is nothing to worry much as you can change the motor of the fan in next 1 or 2 hours. But for this you should have an exhaust fan in which a inactive motor can be replaced with a new one. Some exhaust fan does not have this feature and you need to replace whole setup which is more cumbersome.

Normally hot water in bathroom generates steam which should not remain in the bathroom and should be taken away. This steam if trapped in the bathroom can give rise to molds and mildews. In throwing this steam out of the bathroom an exhaust fan can prove to be very essential. Hence, if some problem occurs in your exhaust fan, you should check it immediately.

The first step to be taken while replacing an exhaust fan is to cut off the power supply in that fan. This could be done by inactivating the corresponding circuit breaker. Once you have cut the power supply, confirm it by flipping the switch on/off and checking that fan is not moving.

Now you need to note the model number of the exhaust fan. For getting this model number, take out the grille of the fan which is attached via springs, screws or plastic tabs.

As the grill is taken out of the exhaust fan, start checking the housing box as the model number is most likely to be found over it. The housing box must be dirty, so clear off the dust first so that you can clearly see the model number. Once you get the model number, unscrew the motor and its supporting plate.

You also need to take out the blower fan. It is connected to the motor shaft via screws or just by pressing. However, taking out the blower fan requires some energy and elbow exercise.

Now take all these parts to an electrical shop from where you can get a new one. Take care that the new fan that you buy can be properly fitted in place of old fan.

Now you need to install this new exhaust fan in your bathroom. Turn on the power to the fan at the electrical panel box. Test the fan to ensure it operates correctly.
