Comparison Between LED Lights And Incandescent Lights

The led lights are becoming more and more popular because of their lighting efficiency. They are approximately 8 times more efficient than incandescent lights and twice as efficient than the fluorescent lights. They are more directed lights and thus are great to be used for task lighting, desk lamps, reading lights, spotlights, flood lights, and track lighting.

With colored led lights there is simply no comparison. All of the light output from led bulbs can be a specific color. With other light sources, much of the light produced consists of unwanted colors which are filtered out. This wastes energy. Led lights produce pure color (monochromatic light) which requires no filtering.

Led lights does not generate unwanted heat like incandescent lights and thus help in saving a lot of energy. Like, for an air conditioning environment, the power needed is much less in case of led lights than with incandescent lights.

Led lighting instantly achieves full brightness with no warm up time. Fluorescent lights are dim when first turned on, and get brighter as they warm up. Depending on the temperature and the age of the lamp, they can take a long time to warm up. If it is cold enough they will not warm up at all. Led lights always start at full brightness.

Fluorescent lights contain mercury and must be treated as hazardous waste. Led lighting contains no mercury or other dangerous substances. Also, led lights emit no damaging ultraviolet light, so they will not cause fading and aging of artwork or other sensitive materials. Fluorescent and halogen lights can cause significant damage over time.

On an average led bulbs can operate for 30, 000 hours. So, if used for 8 hours per day, they can last for 10 or more years. You can save a lot of money with led bulbs as one led bulb can easily outlast 30 incandescent bulbs, or 6 compact fluorescents.

Led lights can work well with all sorts of environment and temperature whereas incandescent lights can be damaged in extremes of temperature. Fluorescent bulbs can be damaged if they are frequently turned off and on whereas led lights does not. So, you can save your time, effort and money with led lights.

As compared to other light sources, led lights are much more dependable, safe and secure. Led bulbs operate at much lower temperatures so do not cause fire whereas halogen and incandescent lights are hot enough to cause fire, and they frequently do.
