Replacing the handle of the microwave needs no special skills and it calls for a careful action only. First of all, get a putty knife and take away the trim around the door. If the trim is held in place by a tab then remove it carefully as these tabs can crack easily. When the screws holding the handle in place are visible, you can unscrew them to replace the handle.

If the food inside the microwave catches fire and the microwave stops working then search the flame thermostat safety switch. This switch is encapsulated in every microwave nowadays. Before changing the bulb of the microwave, turn off the power supply to the microwave safely. If the power supply remains switched on during the replacement of the bulb then it can damage the uprightness of the smart board of the microwave.

If arcing occurs during the running of the microwave then switch off the power supply to the microwave first. Now, clean the area in and around the wave guard. Such deposition of food is often responsible for the arcing in the microwave.

If the microwave display screen is counting down and the inside light is also glowing, but it is not heating then check the door switch of the microwave. You can check the switch using an ohm-meter. Beforehand, discharge the current using a metal screwdriver which has an insulated handle. Now, attach the probes of the ohm-meter to the end of the wire while setting the scale to the lowest scale. If the needle hardly moves in the display of the ohm-meter then your switch is faulty and needs to be replaced.
