Choose a Rose Gold Wedding Ring For a Different Look

February 9, 2010 by Kim Allarie

A wedding ring is something that you will have forever, so take the time and do the research up front so that you will not regret your decision. You have several options to choose from as far as the metal is concerned – white gold, yellow gold, and platinum are all popular options. You can even combine metals to make an unusual and unforgettable two-tone gold wedding ring.

No doubt about it, these choices will all make lovely rings, but there’s still one more classic style that’s often overlooked: the wedding ring made of rose gold. Rose gold has been around for a long time but you might not have seen it too much in wedding rings. Rose gold rings went out of fashion for awhile but are back in favor, as more people are seeking wedding rings that blend modern and traditional styles.

It’s quite likely you’ve heard of rose gold, but aren’t quite sure what it is. Compared to other metals, rose gold looks a lot different, but it’s still interesting, and definitely durable and reliable. Copper and gold are combined to produce the rose gold metal. In most cases, the metal breakdown is 75 percent gold and 25 percent copper. Because of this combination the alloy will have a reddish or pinkish color. It can be formed into any of the wedding ring styles that normal gold or platinum can.

It also goes by the names of pink gold and Russian gold. Nineteenth century czarist Russia was crazy about rose gold, and everything from wedding bands to other kinds of jewelry used this unique metal in their construction.

The color of rose gold can vary depending on how much copper is used. If you want a lighter color, you may find some rose gold with some silver in the mix, and the hue will become much more subtle and delightful.

If you’re looking for a wedding ring that will draw attention and stand out, look no further than a rose gold wedding ring. So when you’re out shopping for a ring, keep in mind that rose gold may be perfect non-traditional choice for your wedding band.

There are so many choices in engagement rings and wedding rings these days. Click here to find out more about the best wedding bands for your preferences.
