Cheap Holidays To Saba
Are you searching for some cheap Caribbean holidays? If so, you have come to the right place. Please allow me to introduce you to Saba. This tiny islet is the smallest of the Netherlands Antilles; it consists largely of the extinct volcano, Mount Scenery (888 m), the highest point of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Its current major settlements include The Bottom, Windward side, Hell’s Gate and St. Johns. Despite the island’s Dutch affiliation, English is the principal language spoken on the island.
Type of weather
Atlantic trade winds cool the island with breezes, and temperatures tend to drop in the evening. The island has varying levels of elevation, and Mt. Scenery stretches up toward 3,000 feet above the ocean. These higher elevations will also bring cooler temperatures, meaning that Saba’s travelers may wish to pack some sort of light garment to keep them warm if they feel chilly at higher elevations, especially in the winter. Lower elevations and daylight will signal the return of warmer weather.
What to Do
Most people come to Saba for two things – well, three really. One is to dive, since it’s always making the top 10 worldwide diving places. The second is to hike and there are enough trails to keep you busy for more than 3 weeks of hiking. And the third, is because of the spectacle of Saba itself. Many tourists on other islands are awestruck by that big green island reaching high into the clouds.
Where to stay
There are a few hotels and a lovely resort on Saba. Many of the hotels are actually guest cottages that offer individual privacy, unspoiled views of the Caribbean, and some even have small kitchens for the guests. The Queen’s Garden Resort is the only resort on the island. Small compared to other Caribbean resorts. It has only 12 guest rooms but nonetheless elegant and spacious. The Queen’s Garden is the establishment of choice for visiting dignitaries and royalty whot visit Saba.
Nightlife
Scout’s Place, Windwardside , is the place to hang out if you want to relax, enjoy a drink, and have a laugh, especially on weeknights. A hotel and restaurant, Scout’s Place moonlights as a local watering hole, entertaining tourists and locals with a distinct Saban/Caribbean atmosphere.
safety
Even as a tropical paradise island, Saba is no exception. You need to be vigilant and exercise the same amount of caution for your personal safety as you would do anywhere. Please do not put yourself in any unnecessary risks.
