Before You Buy Laminate Floor Cleaner
Though laminate flooring is really durable, it,like most other things we have, should be maintained. Even if you are single and your particular laminate floors do not see the traffic of your neighbor’s with the five kids running around all day, there will be times when they will require attention. Try reading through the following tips for ideas about how to care for your laminated flooring before you purchase that high priced laminate floor cleaner, you may not really need it!
Most Of The Time, You Only Need To Sweep
Laminated floors and linoleum kitchen floors are different animals entirely. Laminate flooring does not need expensive cleaners to look its best. The vast majority of the time, your laminate floor really only needs the dirt and dust swept away, and it’ll look brand new. For faster results, you can also use a vacuum cleaner. Be careful that the vacuum either has no beater bar, or that it is disabled, or it will damage both the vacuum and the floor. A vacuum that has a hard floor option works, too, since that also disables, and sometimes retracts, the beater bar.
A Little Warm Water Sometimes Does The Trick
If you do get a stain, or some annoying something that’s stuck to your flooring, laminate floor cleaner may still not be necessary. First, try getting a rag wet with some warm water and scrubbing at it a bit. Keep in mind, laminate floors were meant to be walked on and cleaned off. The top layer of laminated flooring is designed to deflect stains and keep objects from getting stuck. Often times, it just needs a little bit of help from you.
When To Use The Laminate Floor Cleaner
If you can’t sweep it away, vacuum it up, or scrub it off, it’s probably time to invest in some laminate floor cleaner. Be careful that you don’t buy just any cleaner, though. Be sure to purchase and use only the laminate floor cleaner that the floor’s manufacturer suggests. Otherwise, you could very easily damage the top-most coat of your floor. Every flooring manufacturer does things a bit differently, and the various chemicals in laminate floor cleaners can sometimes eat away at the finish. Using whatever cheap laminate flooring cleaner you happen to find at the dollar store can very easily leave you with messed up laminate flooring.
Do Not Soak Laminate Floors
Soaking dishes to remove tough stains is a great idea. However, soaking your laminated floor can be disastrous. Be it just water, or any type of laminate floor cleaner, never leave standing water for any length of time. Laminated floors are notorious for warping due to exposure to too much water. If you think it might be too much water or cleaner, it is. Use only as much laminate floor cleaner or water as you absolutely need. After all, it’s much easier to add a bit more cleaner or water then it is to swap laminate flooring planks.
