It used to be that if you needed a pairs of jeans, you went to The Gap and chose between Levi's and Gap brand jeans. Or you could go to Sears and choose from Lee or Wrangler. Then someone decided they wanted the Jordache look while others went ooh, la, la Sassoon. Thus the designer jeans wars were born and now there are so many different companies making pants out of denim it is hard to decide which one to pick. Unless, you know what you need and which body type the jeans are best for. This is no different than selecting a personal trainer. In the 80's, everyone wanted to workout with Jane Fonda or Jack LaLanne. Then, the personal training industry exploded and with it, many ideas on what characterized the ultimate workout. There ascendance in prominence has been very similar.

Choosing A Personal Trainer is Like Choosing Jeans

The New York City Marathon has passed. Much of the fanfare for the event itself has passed with it, except for those few people who are pondering next year. Every year after the event, many people end up asking themselves, "could I run a marathon?". This line of thought is a bit misaligned with the goal. The real question people should be asking themselves is can I train for a marathon.
Misplaced Mindset of Marathon Day

Often at health fairs I ask, "Are you currently exercising?" and am immediately greeted with a laugh that makes me feel like a standup comedian. It is not a funny question, yet people laugh or snicker along with answers like "not as much as I would like to be" or "not enough.". Yet they usually say they have gym memberships. It astounds me why people would throw this money away and not try to get some value for the money they are shelling out. Here are a few suggestions for the fair weather gym goer.
Don’t Just Throw Away Your Money on An Unused Gym Membership
