All About Preparing The Tea In Electric Kettle
Ever since the introduction of electric tea kettles a few decades ago, it has made boiling water very easy. In the old days, boiling water was done by putting a kettle on a stove and boiling it. Although these old kettles are good with boiling water, it requires effort and constant monitoring. They have no auto power switch to stop the boiling and no temperate control. Also, it can take at least eight or nine minutes to fully boil water.
Sometimes, simple is best. A very cheap and easy tea kettle that will suit for all your water heating needs is also available in the market. It holds up to a quart and will heat your water to boiling quickly. Also, electric kettles help you in selecting the water temperature as per the needs.
With the advancement in the technology, the market is flooded with various types of electric kettle flourished with unique features. Now a day, a kettle with a nice big handle for easy pouring, and gauges on both sides for easy filling is also available.
At the bottom of the kettle is a sealed electric heating element. Above the heating element is a canister that holds water. The canister can be removable, or it can be built into the kettle. The controls are on the side of the kettle. Typically, there is an on/off switch and a thermostat which controls how hot the kettle gets.
The power system for the electric kettle is same as in the electric range. The two main components to the electric kettle are a resistor and a thermostat. Resistor basically acts as the heating element of the appliance. As the kettle is turned on the current flows, that is opposed by the resistor. This current is dissipated in the form of heat that boils the water.
Another component that is, the thermostat is simply a controlling device for the resistor. The temperature you set is inversely proportional to the resistance. The thermostat in turn is controlled via a transistor.
At time when the resistance has greater value, the flow of current reduces thereby reducing the current flow in the heating element. This causes the heating element to cool. Further the water also gets cooler. On the other hand, if the resistance has less value, more current flow through the thermostat and the transistor. Thus, you are provided with the warm water.
This is how, the entire process of water boiling and tea preparation is accomplished with the electric kettle.
