1. Training on an empty stomach: For the fastest weight loss you need to train with the highest level of intensity. And the only to do this is by having some fuel in your body before training. Even better, not training on an empty stomach will have you burning more fat.

2. Waiting too long after exercise to eat: Eating or drinking something right after you exercise is the best thing you can do to jump start recovery. The main issue here, however, is that right after exercise your body temperature is elevated. And high body temperatures blunt the hunger drive. So eat even if you aren’t hungry.

3. Supplanting whole food with supplements: A balanced meal with always be much healthier for you than a protein bar or a meal replacement shake. In fact, the term meal replacement is very misleading since a packet of powder can never replace a meal in its nutritional entirety.

4. Trusting everything that’s on a label: Labels can be manipulated to many ends. Even worse, there are many loopholes within FDA regulations that allow food companies to make some extremely deceiving claims. Even worse than that, a lot of the charts and graphs that supplement companies put in advertisements are baked.

5. Using exercise as an “all you can eat” ticket: Just because you had a great workout doesn’t mean you can have everything at the all you can eat buffet! Because of this, many women actually gain weight when starting an exercise program.

There is no perfect way to diet for weight loss. And expect to make many mistakes on your journey. The key here is to not get frustrated and course correct as quickly as possible.
