The abrupt end of the government insulation rebate program of Australia last February 19 may have caused relief for some, but inconveniences for many. Australia’s environment minister Peter Garret has halted the program after it has been linked to four deaths and 93 house fires. Four workers have died while installing insulation while the house fires have been caused by improper insulation, making homes into fire hazards.
